Happy Birthday, Kikie!!

My friend Kikie in Arizona has a birthday today, and like last year, I made him a card.

I found this hilarious photo of the fearful statue with a crow aiming for it, on the Internet.  It's one of those floating around with no name attached or I would give credit for it to whomever took this shot. I used some brown cardstock, a piece of an envelope with words printed faintly on it, a small piece of ribbon, and then a textured wallpaper scrap. I attached a metal piece with the letter K punched out of the center, with a brad. On the inside, I placed some stamped paper over the part of the card which had the brad attached so that it was not visible, and printed out a little sentiment and glued it in. I'm afraid that since it was not one of my better days when I made it, it's a bit uneven in places, but I don't think he will mind! :)

I hope that Kikie has a very Happy Birthday!!!

Happy Birthday Kikie!

My friend Kikie is a very nice young man I met through Postcrossing. We have become Pen Pals, although I confess he is much more punctual about writing than I am. Although he lives out west, 6 states away from me, it turns out that we even have a mutual friend whom we had met years ago in Charleston! He is a super nice guy and I hope that someday we can meet in person. For right now though, I sent him a handmade Birthday Greeting:

Crossing Them Off The List

I can see the top of my work table! I actually cleaned off the top and wiped it down! Yes, that's a big deal for me because it is my least favorite thing to do in my studio - clean up. Yet it's also one of the most important things I can do because I am forever looking for an image, a small metal part or even a pen to write with. To do mixed media art like I do, you have to have things organized somewhat or it becomes very frustrating. But these kinds of things are also the hardest to organize! So many small bits, art paper, different paints, brushes, metal pieces, images I like from magazine, cards, etc. Yikes!!

But at least I made a bit of a dent this morning. Now, my drawing table beckons ........

I also sent off some correspondence which was woefully behind, and I made a card for a friend who was kind enough to give me a small bag filled with treasures to use in my art.

So of course I used some of the things she gave me on the card. And now that I am looking at it, I wish I had centered the small tag a bit better, but I don't think she will mind! 

Now on to the drawing table - I hope to have it free and clear!!

Nothing very fancy, but something fun to send a message in the US Mail!

The Bluebirds are raising their second brood and the juveniles from their first brood are hanging around the feeders now. Every time mom or dad Bluebird shows up at the feeder they start begging for the parents to feed them, even though they are quite capable of feeding themselves. We have a couple of small feeders with mill worms in them for the Bluebirds. I put the water dripper on the birdbath and it's been great fun to see them line up to use the birdbath now that the weather is getting quite warmer. I hung the hummingbird feeder from the top of the porch this year, right near where we sit. Now when the hummingbirds come, I can see through the clear bottom and watch their long thin tongue hit the bottom of the feeder in rapid repetitions! I'm hoping I can get some impatiens in the ground soon.
